LYONS -- The people of Lyons, Nebraska are now in week four of dealing with brown city water.

The problem is due to a malfunction with Lyon's temporary filter system. Tuesday December 7th, the city's water management Terry Ueding told NCN the new valves are expected to arrive tomorrow; Wednesday. Whether the repairs will happen the same day the valves arrive is unknown, he said.

"We're hoping to get this resolved as quickly as possible," he said.

At the same time, residents tell NCN Tuesday that they're frustrated at having to buy water bottles, being billed the flat water rate, and not being able to wash their clothes. One resident -- Eric Schrader from Lyons -- said it's already ruined some of his clothes, and he's not letting his kids drink it. Schrader said he plans to test the water to confirm its safety.

"I don't trust the city utilities," Schrader said.

For now, Lyons continues to double back wash and use less potassium manganate. City officials recommend running the water longer and drinking only from bottled water, though the murky water is not dangerous, according to Ueding.
