O'NEILL, Neb. -- Multiple fire departments responded to a fire in northeast Nebraska Thursday night and into Friday morning.

The O'Neill Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the house fire late Thursday night. According to the fire department, heavy flames and smoke were noted upon arrival.

O'Neill Fire Chief Roger Miller said crews were called to the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m. Miller said he remained at the location until about 4:30 a.m.

Miller said the fire was accidental in nature and that the house was "gutted." There were no injuries reported, though family was displaced. Red Cross helped house the family for the night.

The Nebraska State Fire Marshal's Office was called, though Miller said, "they had a rash of fires last night, so there was a delayed response."

Atkinson Fire was called and provided mutual aid.

There has been no official word on the monetary amount of damage.
