NORFOLK, Neb. -- A 43-year-old Carroll man was arrested last week on drug charges with assistance from the Norfolk Police Division's new K9.
NPD was patrolling Pasewalk Avenue near Wal-Mart when the officer recognized the car of Timothy A. Robbins, knowing that Robbins had an active warrant.
The officer checked the vehicle and found Robbins sleeping inside of it. Robbins was arrested on the outstanding warrant and handcuffed. Other passengers were asked to exit the vehicle.
Robbins reportedly refused consent to allow the officers to search the vehicle.
Kane, Norfolk’s new K9, came to the scene to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle, according to an NPD press release.
When doing so, Kane alerted, indicating that there were controlled substances in the vehicle, the press release stated.
In a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a glass pipe and digital scale. Both tested positive for methamphetamine.
Robbins was then arrested for possession of a controlled substance. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail
