Wayne High School recently announced they hired a new head coach for their volleyball team. Nichelle Daum, who served the previous two seasons as an assistant coach for the Blue Devils, has been named head coach. News Channel Nebraska got the chance to talk with Daum about what getting the position means to her.

''To me, it's always been something I wanted to do. Volleyball is a passion of mine. I've been doing it as long as I can remember'', said Daum.

Daum also talked about what she wants to bring to the Wayne High volleyball program and what's the most important part of the game.

''I think defense is huge. Especially in Nebraska. I think Nebraska is kind of known for solid volleyball. Across all levels. I mean, you have Wayne State, they've been a solid program and that comes from local girls. So, I think defense is huge," Daum told News Channel Nebraska.

Daum serves as a resource and special education teacher at Wayne Community Schools.
