OMAHA, Neb. -- A man is dead after being hit by a pickup at an Omaha intersection.

It happened Thursday evening on Ames Avenue in north Omaha.

Authorities at the scene said a pedestrian, identified as 33-year-old Christian Bauerle, was walking on the sidewalk and walked into the traffic lane where he was hit by the truck.

Police say Bauerle may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time. The 32-year-old truck driver was not impaired, police say, and he was said to be cooperating with investigators.
