Norfolk apartment damaged by overnight fire
Multiple northeast Nebraska fire crews battled a blaze at Norfolk apartment early Thursday morning.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Multiple northeast Nebraska fire crews battled a blaze at Norfolk apartment early Thursday morning.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue was dispatched to 112 N. 9th Street at approximately 2:00 a.m. First arriving units reported seeing flames coming from a 2nd story window.
Initial crews encountered heavy smoke and flames throughout the second floor apartment, according to Scott Bonsall from the Norfolk Fire Division.
All occupants were able to exit the residence safely before Norfolk Fire arrived, Bonsall said.
It took approximately 19 firefighters and 4 rigs about 20 minutes to control the fire and another 90 minutes to overhaul the structure.
Hadar Fire provided 6 firefighters and 2 rigs for mutual aid.
The property is estimated to be worth about $58,000 and sustained approximately $30,000 of damage to the structure and approximately $20,000 to the contents.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue was assisted by the Norfolk Police Division, NPPD, Black Hills Energy.
No firefighters or civilians were injured during the incident.
