NORFOLK, Neb. -- February has been proclaimed as JOI of Reading Month in the city of Norfolk.

The proclamation was made Monday evening by mayor Josh Moenning. Talking about the proclamation, Moenning said it was important to highlight the Junior Optimist International Club's effort to make reading important not only in school but outside of it as well. He sighted the club's dedication to the belief that they could make a difference by encouraging others to read more books and improve their reading skills.

Members of Norfolk's JOI clubs were there to receive the proclamation and were greeted by applause from everyone in attendance.
