PENDER, Neb. -- Three people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in northeast Nebraska on Wednesday, according to Thurston County's sheriff office responders.

Authorities were called to the scene of the crash in Pender shortly after noon.

The accident occurred as a red SUV going south on Highway 9 collided with a grey compact car that was turning off of Industrial Road.

Two people from the SUV and one from the car were hospitalized with minor injuries, authorities report. While the highway was blocked off by the accident, traffic was blocked off for about a mile in either direction.

The cars were towed within the hour, though.
