Norfolk man faces multiple drug counts after traffic stop

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A late-night traffic stop in northeast Nebraska has led to the arrest of a 35-year-old Norfolk man.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a Norfolk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that reportedly had a headlight out.
While making contact with the driver, Cory D. Sanders, the officer stated that they could smell marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
An ensuing check of Sanders' license showed that it was under suspension.
Sanders was taken into custody for driving under suspension.
While searching Sanders, officers reportedly recovered a glass pipe that tested positive for methamphetamine, a plastic bag of marijuana, along with three tablet pills, one of which tested positive for the drug ecstasy. He was then also arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Sanders was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
