NORFOLK, Neb. -- Power is back for hundreds in northeast Nebraska, though many still remain in the dark.

NPPD reported nearly 600 customers without power in the Norfolk area, while Northeast Power reported that nearly all of Pierce was without power for several hours. Meadow Grove was also among the communities without power, as a result of the Mid-March ice storm that struck northeast Nebraska.

Wind, hail, rain and cold temperatures wreaked havoc on the region, causing power to go down shortly before 5:00 p.m. While much of Norfolk's power was restored before 8:00, several people in Pierce and Meadow Grove waited until shortly before midnight.

Power was restored at approximately 11:00 for many in the affected areas, with power going back out again before midnight in Meadow Grove, according to some residents in Meadow Grove. Though outage maps show a resolution to the power outage, some residents in Meadow Grove reported still being without power by 6:00 a.m.
