Norfolk gearing up for Benjamin Avenue construction

Reconstruction and widening of Benjamin Avenue from 13th Street east to 1st Street is set to start on April 4th.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Reconstruction and widening of Benjamin Avenue from 13th Street east to 1st Street is set to start on April 4th. Phase 1 will reconstruct the eastbound lanes from Riverside Boulevard east to Burger King.

Traffic will be shifted to the north side of Benjamin Avenue with one lane for eastbound and one lane for westbound traffic through the construction zone. Traffic will also be shifted to the west side of Riverside, just to the south of Benjamin allowing for one lane of northbound traffic and one lane of southbound traffic. Please use caution in the area and slow down. If there are any questions or concerns, please call the City of Norfolk Engineering Division at 402-844-2020. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Norfolk city leaders advise drivers to expect delays when you are traveling on Benjamin Avenue between 9th Street and Burger King. Access will still be available to the businesses in the construction zone.

An open house highlighting the Benjamin Avenue Improvement Project will take place on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Norfolk City Council Chambers (309 North 5th Street) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Representatives from the contractor, BX-Civil & Construction, will give a formal presentation on the project.

Attendees are asked to park on the west side of the Administration Building and enter through the northwest door.
