STANTON, Neb. -- Multiple fire departments were on the scene of a field fire in northeast Nebraska Monday afternoon.

Stanton Fire and Rescue received a call about the fire at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Authorities said the fire started after wind caught hold of a massive burn happening in a field.

They said there were no buildings immediately impacted by the Stanton County blaze, though 22 hay bales and portions of a field were affected in the area north of Stanton and west of Pilger.

The fire was knocked down at 8:30 pm last night.
