OAKDALE, Neb. -- One person has died after a fire at a home in northeast Nebraska Thursday morning.

Firefighters got the call for the fire at 7:50 am. at a home on Walther Street. Units from Oakdale and Neligh both responded, with investigators remaining on the into Thursday afternoon.

Oakdale Fire Chief, Matt Wilkinson told NCN that 74-year-old Linda R. James was found in the residence at the time of the fire and was pronounced dead at the scene by officials. Wilkinson said James was the mother of one of the firefighters.

Wilkinson said he believed there was no foul play at the time of the fire and an autopsy is currently ordered for the cause of death of James. There's no cause to what started the fire yet, according to Wilkinson. No other information was given out by officials as the fire is still an active investigation.
