Jackson announces he is no longer coming to Nebraska
A major transfer will not be joining the Huskers after all.
LINCOLN, Neb. -- A major transfer will not be joining the Huskers after all.
Deondre Jackson, a running back who announced his intention to transfer from Texas A&M to the Nebraska football program in January, made the announcement Tuesday.
He did not enroll for the spring semester, but stated that he planned on enrolling by the summer.
However, Jackson said in a tweet on Tuesday that he will not be joining the Big Red. He also thanks Husker fans in the tweet.
The Huskers currently have returning contributors Gabe Ervin, Rahmir Johnson, Markese Stepp and Jaquez Yant on the roster, in addition to transfer Anthony Grant.
Jackson was a three-star recruit coming out of high school in Georgia. He had three carries for 13 yards in five games over two seasons. Because of redshirt rules and the added year of eligibility during the COVID-19 2020 season, Jackson has all four years of eligibility remaining.
