NPD: Norfolk man arrested, carried to police cruiser

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Authorities in northeast Nebraska arrested a Norfolk man after a disturbance call.
Early Sunday morning around 12:15, the Norfolk Police Division responded to a call for a disturbance in the 1200 block of Elm Ave.
It was reported that a 26-year-old from Norfolk had returned home and was intoxicated.
NPD said that he was very upset and broke a glass cutting board and a large glass cooking pot lid.
Authorities said that the man was argumentative with family members and wanted to assault them.
Officers said they had spoken with him and he calmed down. He reportedly agreed to stay away from the family members in another part of the house.
NPD officers said they left the home, but stayed in the area.
Shortly after leaving the residence, officers said they, again, started to hear yelling and screaming from the home.
NPD reported that officers approached the home again, and the man exited the residence.
Officers said they spoke with him again about what he had agreed to, and it was learned that he had kicked a large hole in the side cabinet as he was leaving.
It was reported that officers then placed the man under arrest, and he refused. Officers said he resisted handcuffing and it took several officers to control and handcuff him.
NPD said that he refused to walk to the police cruiser and had to be carried.
He was arrested for criminal mischief, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later bounded out of jail.
