Norfolk Beef Expo returns this weekend for 73rd year
Multiple competitions are scheduled throughout Sunday and an auction will be held at the end of the expo.
NORFOLK, Neb. -- An annual Ag event is returning to northeast Nebraska this weekend.
The 73rd Annual Norfolk Beef Expo is taking place this Saturday and Sunday at the Chuck M. Pohlman Ag Complex.
On Saturday, cattle were brought into the complex to be classified followed by a fitting contest that night.
The expo begins at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday with a showmanship competition.
Multiple competitions are scheduled throughout the day and an auction will be held at the end of the expo.
Mike Roeber, an agriculture and livestock judging instructor at Northeast Community College, said the event is a great way to promote agriculture and to help teach the youth that are involved more about the subject.
“It’s important to keep these kids involved in agriculture," Roeber said. "It gives them an opportunity to have a project, learn to be responsible, show off that project, and bring it to shows such as this one. Then you see the culmination of all their handwork and effort over the course of the year. It builds a relationship with those students and the AG industry in the Norfolk area.”
This will likely be the last competition of the season for FFA and 4-H members.
The event will end at 5:30 pm on Sunday.
