WAYNE, Neb. -- Maggie Brahmer of Wayne State College was named the Northern Sun Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota following her play in three Wildcat home wins last week.

It’s the second time this season she has earned Offensive Player of the Week honors Sept. 6 to go with Defensive Player of the Week honors she received September 26.

Brahmer, a 6-0 sophomore middle hitter from Pierce, averaged 4.00 kills and 0.82 blocks per set while posting a .494 hitting percentage in home sweeps over Augustana and Winona State along with a 3-2 win over Upper Iowa. She had a week-high 17 kills in Tuesday’s 3-0 sweep over Augustana and hit .563 with 11 kills and four blocks in Friday’s 3-0 win over Winona State. Brahmer concluded the week with 16 kills, four blocks and a .577 hitting percentage in a 3-2 victory over Upper Iowa Saturday.

For the season, Brahmer is averaging 3.29 kills and 1.18 blocks per set with a .464 hitting percentage. She leads the NSIC and ranks second nationally in hitting percentage, is second in the league and tied for 18th in NCAA Division II in blocks per set and ranks eighth in the NSIC with 3.99 points per set while ranking 11th in kills per set.

Wayne State is 27-1 and first place in the NSIC with a 17-1 league record. The Wildcats, ranked third in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, will close out the regular season on the road Friday night at Minnesota State (6 p.m.) and Saturday afternoon at #2 Concordia-St. Paul in a 2 p.m. contest.
