Wayne State's Jordan Janssen named NSIC South Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week

For the second time this season and the seventh time in his career, Wayne State fifth year forward Jordan Janssen was named Tuesday afternoon the Northern Sun Conference South Division Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Wayne, Neb. --- For the second time this season and the seventh time in his career, Wayne State fifth year forward Jordan Janssen was named Tuesday afternoon the Northern Sun Conference South Division Men’s Basketball Player of the Week by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota following his play in two Wildcat home wins over the weekend.

A 6'7'' forward from Lincoln East High School, Janssen posted two double-doubles and averaged 22.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game in wins over Winona State and Upper Iowa. Janssen had 20 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday’s 81-72 win over Winona State and recorded 25 points and 16 rebounds Sunday in a 86-77 victory against Upper Iowa.

For the weekend, Janssen made 19 of 31 shots (61.3%) from the field and 7 of 10 (70%) free throws.

This season, Janssen leads Wayne State in scoring (20.9) and rebounding (9.6). He ranks first in the NSIC in rebounding, fourth in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage (.566), ninth in minutes played per game (33.0) and 12th in free throw percentage (.784). Janssen has scored double figures in all 13 games this season with six double-doubles and 10 games of 20 or more points.

Wayne State is 10-3 overall and tied for first in the NSIC South with a 5-2 league mark. The Wildcats return to play following the holiday break on Saturday, December 31 hosting Augustana at 3:30 p.m. in Rice Auditorium.
