PIERCE, Neb. -- One of the most highly regarded football recruits in the state of Nebraska is officially heading east.

Ben Brahmer, who led Pierce to two state titles, signed his letter of intent to play with Iowa State.

Flanked by his parents and his two sisters, both of whom have played volleyball for Wayne State Collee, Brahmer put his name on the dotted line to play for the Cyclones.

Iowa State was the first major program to offer Brahmer, though the tight end initially gave his commitment to Nebraska and former head coach Scott Frost.

Brahmer then switched his commitment to Iowa State earlier this month,  ending his 20-month commitment to the Huskers.

New Nebraska coach Matt Rhule visited Brahmer shortly after he was hired by the Huskers. Brahmer's decommitment followed fellow in-state prospect Malachi Coleman re-opening his recruitment, though Rhule was able to bring Coleman back into the class on signing day.

Brahmer played for his dad, Mark Brahmer, at Pierce. The younger Brahmer set numerous records as the Bluejays won state championships in his sophomore and senior seasons.

He caught 11 passes for 249 yards in the Bluejays' 42-14 win over Aurora in the 2022 Class C-1 championship game in Lincoln.
