NORFOLK, Neb. -- Winter weather is getting ready to embrace parts of Nebraska again, even if many of its residents are ready to wrap their arms around another round of cold and snow conditions.

A total of 25 Nebraska counties are under a winter storm warning, mostly in the northwest and north central parts of the state.

The Panhandle could see as much as nine inches of snow, with over a foot possible in surrounding states.

An additional 35 are under a winter storm watch, with the areas affected ranging from southwest Nebraska to central Nebraska to the northeast corner of the state.

Near the South Dakota border, parts of northeast Nebraska could get as much as eight inches of snow and 35 mph wind gusts, though four inches of snow appears to be the max for much of the rest of the affected areas.

The warnings and watches are in effect until midday Tuesday, with Sunday night and Monday morning expected to be the starting point for the expected winter storms.

Meanwhile, the North Platte River near Lewellen is currently under a flood advisory due to an ice jam.
