Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is battling stage one throat and breast cancer, according to the Women's Tennis Association.
The WTA issued a statement Monday announcing Navratilova's diagnosis.
“This double whammy is serious but still fixable,” the 66-year-old said in the statement.
She previously battled breast cancer in 2010.
Navratilova won 59 Grand Slam titles in her prolific tennis career, including 18 singles championships. She won 87 percent of her singles matches in her career, but her dominance shone most brightly at Wimbledon, where she claimed nine singles crowns, seven doubles championships and four mixed doubles titles.
“I’m hoping for a favorable outcome. It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all have I got.”
She is expected to begin treatment in New York next week.
