PIERCE, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska football standout is staying in state to play at the next level.
Pierce senior Abram Scholting announced on Twitter Thursday morning that he's committing to Nebraska-Kearney and new coach Ryan Held for his collegiate career.
Scholting re-wrote a slew of records over the course of his career with the Bluejays.
The two-time state champion passed for over 6,400 career yards. He also set a new 11-man record with 99 touchdown passes.
He also set new career passing completion percentage records in Class C-1 for a single season and for a career.
Scholting chose UNK over offers from other Division II schools like Wayne State, Northern State, Central Missouri and South Dakota School of Mines. He had also received a preferred walk-on offer from Iowa State, where teammate Ben Brahmer signed as a scholarship tight end.
