NORFOLK, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska man was apprehended after he allegedly hit a woman in the head with a cell phone and throwing her into a bath tub.

Norfolk Police and Norfolk Rescue were called to an apartment on Lakewood Drive Tuesday afternoon. Arriving officers reported finding a woman with a laceration to her head that was still bleeding.

The woman said 39-year-old Cristian Santana, of Norfolk, used a cell phone to hit her on the head, causing her head wound. She said he then grabbed her head, causing a cut to the inside of her cheek, before throwing her against a wall and into a bathroom tub.

Officers reported finding blood from the woman's injuries throughout the apartment. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital.

NPD later located Santana in a parked car on Benjamin Avenue. According to Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer, they spoke with him while he sat in the vehicle.

Bauer said officers noticed blood on his wrist, then asking him to step out of the car. According to Bauer, he then closed the window and locked the door, refusing to exit.

According to Bauer, Santana eventually complied and opened the door.

Sanana was arrested for second-degree domestic assault and obstructing a peace officer. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
