NORFOLK, Neb. -- In a special Wednesday meeting, the City of Norfolk appointed Justin Snorton as the Ward 3 representative.
A Norfolk resident since 2002, Snorton was appointed in a unanimous vote during a special Wednesday night meeting. Snorton fills Gary Jackson's seat after Jackson resigned in January.
“We had a very qualified pool of applicants, and I appreciate anyone and everyone who is willing to step up and take on community leadership roles,” Mayor Josh Moenning said in a press release. “Justin has a compelling story; he chose to make Norfolk his home and now wants to ensure the community continues to grow into the future. He’s forward-looking, thoughtful, and committed to putting in the work to make Norfolk a welcoming, vibrant city.”
Snorton said he is looking forward to serving his constituents, assisting to grow the community, and making Norfolk a destination for new residents and families.
“I am honored for the appointment and to help serve a community that has served me all these years,” Snorton said.
He will officially be sworn in and begin his duties at the Feb. 6 Norfolk City Council meeting.
