WAYNE, Neb. -- Voters in a northeast Nebraska school district have approved an eight-figure bond for major upgrades and a new early learning center, but it was a slim margin of victory.
According to unofficial election results in Wayne County, the $28 million bond passed by just 30 votes - 943 to 913.
The project includes a new pre-K through second grade building, along with new class rooms at the high school and renovations to the school auditorium among other changes.
According to information in the original bond proposal, district officials estimate that someone in the Wayne District with a $350,000 assessed property will be paying about $450 more annually on their property taxes.
