LINCOLN, Neb. – A key Husker basketball player will be testing the draft waters, while maintaining his college eligibility, according to Husker Online.

Keisei Tominaga has applied for early entry to the NBA Draft, which gives him access to evaluation and provides the opportunity to consider remaining the draft or returning to college. Former Aurora High School standout Baylor Scheierman did the same thing last season before transferring from South Dakota State to Creighton.

Tominaga has played four seasons of college basketball, including two at Nebraska, but he is able to play a fifth due to the NCAA granting an extra season of eligibility for student-athletes who were competing during the 2020-21 season.

The native of Japan scored 13.1 points per game for the Huskers last season. He reached double figures in his final 10 games, including seven games of 20 or more points in that span. He scored a career-high 30 points in the Huskers' win over Penn State in February.

Tominaga has until June 1 to remove himself from the draft and return to Nebraska.

He was an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection. He was also an Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

The news comes as Nebraska remains in hot pursuit of Gonzaga transfer and former Millard North star Hunter Sallis. The Huskers have already inked transfers Rienk Mast and Brice Williams this offseason.

The Huskers have also gotten a commitment from high school guard Nick Janowski, a 2024 commit.
