NORFOLK, Neb. -- As the Fourth of July holiday is finally wrapped up, it is now time for cleanup. News Channel Nebraska got a glance into what that process looks like.

With the Fourth of July finally behind us, comes the aftermath of cleaning up all the shrapnel. After the Fourth, most firework tents begin to tear down immediately. The process takes hours as they pack the remaining fireworks away for next year.

“Yeah, boxing inventory up, putting it on the trailer, tables back on the trailer, pretty much everything that wasn’t sold and that belongs to Wild Willy’s, back on the trailer," said Mandy Kruse, tent manager.

The crew had been stocking the trailer since early in the morning. They had to break everything down until there was nothing left but an empty tent. But where does it all go?

"Yeah, Wild Willy's, they're out of Springfield, Nebraska they have a warehouse there,” Kruse said. “We do our job here, and they take care of the rest of it there as far as putting back products that they can maybe sell again next season.”

When it comes to handling fireworks, safety is the top priority. As there are proper ways for everyone to dispose of leftover trash and fireworks responsibly.

“What we do as managers of the tent each season, Wild Willy’s has us go through a training protocol,” Kruse said. “That’s a few hour session a couple weeks before the season starts, so that we are just aware of different safety precautions and what not.”

In fact, this crew is so safe during the season that they actually have someone sleep in the tent every night.

“So, last night I had to sleep in our tent,” said tent crew mate Joseph Hajek. “So, that is so that our fireworks don't get stolen or messed with. It is a security thing. It is a very fun adventure trying to make sure that when you hear the tent flaps move that it is not someone or the wind.”

When it comes to firework cleanup in your own home, make sure you are following instructions so that you can dispose of fireworks safely.
