Body found in Ponca drowning, man identified

The body of a man that drowned at the Ponca State Park was found and identified.

PONCA, Neb. -- The body of a man that drowned at the Ponca State Park was found and identified.

The Dixon County Sheriff's Office said they found 45-year-old Alfredo Olivares around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday after he went missing on Saturday. Olivares was from Sioux Center, Iowa, and the family was notified.

On Saturday, a caller reported that her husband had gone underwater near a dock at Ponca State Park and had not resurfaced.

In addition to the sheriff's office, Ponca Fire & Rescue, Dixon County Emergency Management, Nebraska Game & Parks, South Dakota Game & Parks, Dakota County Emergency Management, Dakota City Fire & Rescue, American Red Cross and the Yankton Dive Team also responded.

Search efforts were called off after 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Crews were back out at the boat dock early Sunday morning to resume recovery efforts.
