HUBBARD, Neb. -- Hubbard's annual Hoot Owl Days is returning this year with three days worth of events.

A Hawaiian theme was decided for this year and will start Friday, Aug. 25. Friday's events start at 5:00 p.m. at the Danish Alps SRA and Kramper Lake with a Kayak Float. and is free of charge. People can bring their own kayak or use one of those the Nebraska State Games and Parks have brought in..

A 5K Glow Run will be at 8:00 p.m. Entertainment will be at each of the 5k markers and $250 worth of prizes is being donated by Scheels, for best dressed participants. A bon/camp fire with marshmallows for making S'mores will take place after the run. A Nebraska park permit is required to enter the Danish Alps SRA.

On Saturday, Aug. 26, a raffle will be held the whole day for three available prizes: two 1/2 Hog and one 1/4 Beef. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 with the drawing taking place during the street dance latr in the night on Main St. A Fishing Derby will be held at the Danish Alps by Nebraska Games and Parks starting at 8:00 a.m.

The Hubbard All School Reunion will be hosting coffee and donuts at Trinity Lutheran Church at 9:00 a.m. before the 11:00 a.m. parade on Main St. Registration for the parade starts at 10:30 a.m. in front of Trinity Lutheran Church. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place entries. A craft fair take place at 10:00 a.m. and run throughout the afternoon in Heffernan Park and in the Community Center. Vendors are donating items for the $1 raffle and winners will be drawn at 2:00 p.m.

There will be a Beer Garden open all day. The farm tractor display and all of the children games open after the parade. A $5 wrist band gives each child entry to the acitivities in the park. The children’s money dig, Live music in the park, and Meet the Hero’s all start at noon. The annual Hooting Contest starts at 1:00 p.m. Children can play BINGO at 1:30 p.m. in the park shelter and a cake walk will take place at 2:00 p.m.

An adult BINGO will start at 3:00 p.m. in the park shelter also. Starting at 3:30 p.m., Tie Dye shirts can be made for $20, sign up for both the Pickleball Tournament on the concrete pad in Heffernan Park and the Kickball tournament in the grass area by the Community Center will open.

Saturday evening will have a brisket and corn feed on Main St. at 5:00 p.m. It is a free will donation. The dance area and beer garden will be open for all with the Outback Band playing from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., followed by the Missouri Blend Band from 9:00 p.m. to midnight. Hubbard's own Steve Lange and his band, Madison Avenue, had a medical tragedy with one of their band members recently and will not be performing. After the brisket and corn feed, the Big Papa Food Truck will be open from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

On Sunday, Aug. 27, events start at 8:00 a.m. with the Country Breakfast at St Mary’s Parish Center sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church. The 13th annual Show & Shine Car show will be in front of the Community Center at 10:00 a.m. The Lawnmower Rodeo and Poker Run will end the weekend and starts at 11:00 a.m. at the baseball field.
