MADISON COUNTY, Neb. -- Wednesday saw the Madison County commissioners talk about a variety of topics.

The meeting began with a public hearing on vacating portions of two roads. First was a half mile of 836th Road between 557th Ave. and 558th Ave. The road was recommended to be abandoned due to it's lack of use.

The second road was a portion of 843rd Road running from 549th Ave to a 1 /2 mile east. This was a request from a home owner who lived at the end of the road. The owner said his family was the only people who used the road and was concerned with strangers driving up to his house thinking it was a roadway.

No action was taken Wednesday, with the decision having to be made at the next commissioner meeting.

Other items discussed Wednesday included an update on HVAC renovations in the courthouse. Work on a new boiler is expected to take place in the middle of November, and work on a new chiller evaporator to begin in early December.

All work is currently expected to be completed in February. Commissioners also clarified subjects of their employee manual with staff, and discussed potentially buying an EasyWorkforce Subscription for the Sheriff's Office.

The commissioners will meet next on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
