ALLEN, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol says a wanted subject dies from a self-inflicted gunshot wound near Allen following a standoff, Tuesday night.

The NSP said they are investigating an incident where a wanted subject died of a gunshot wound in Dixon County.

Around 11:30 a.m., the NSP and the Dixon County Sheriff's Office said they were trying to find a subject with multiple arrest warrants.

Authorities reportedly believed that the subject, identified 36-year-old Andrew Chase, who was at his home on Highway 9 near Allen.

NSP troopers said they made several attempts to speak with Chase and have him exit the home, with no response.

About two hours later, a trooper said they saw Chase leave the home and walk around the property carrying a long gun, hiding in various areas.

The NSP said that Chase was legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The NSP SWAT Team was activated to handle the situation. They traveled to the scene, and Chase was seen going back into the home.

The NSP said that continuous attempts were made to have Chase exit the house voluntarily. A search warrant was then obtained for the home.

After about 45 minutes without contact, the NSP said that SWAT Troopers made entry into the house.

Around 8:50 p.m., an NSP K9 reportedly was able to find Chase hiding inside a room on the second floor of the home.

NSP Troopers said they heard a single gunshot come from inside the room.

The SWAT team reportedly found Chase inside the room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel were already on scene and attempted life saving measures, according to the NSP.

Chase was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was reported that no law enforcement officers discharged a weapon during the incident, and there were no other injuries reported.

In accordance with Nebraska statute, a grand jury investigation will be held in Dixon County.
