YMCA Executive Director wins NAIA officiating award

Norfolk YMCA executive director Randy Hagedorn is being honored by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as an outstanding official.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Norfolk YMCA Executive Director Randy Hagedorn is being honored by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as an outstanding official.

According to a press release, Hagedorn was named the 2023-24 NAIA Larry Lady Officiating award winner by the conference.

The award is handed out to an official who has honest communication and ensures every game is fair for coaches and students athletes.

"Randy exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding official. In a sometimes volatile environment, Randy approaches officiating with an empathic yet knowledgeable approach," according to a press release from the NAIA. 

In his career, he's officiated a national championship, over 20 playoff games, and has consistently been the Great Plains Athletic Conference's top choice for playoff referrals.
