LINCOLN - The Cedar Catholic Trojans fought hard, but ultimately fell short against the Superior Wildcats on Thursday afternoon.

The Trojans (14-18) held the 6th seed in the tournament after knocking off Kenesaw in the Sub-District final and matched up with the 3rd seeded Wildcats (26-7).

Superior held on to win a back and forth opening set, led by Reagan Meyers, one of the best offensive weapons across all classes in Nebraska.

Cedar Catholic spread out the attack, which led to big plays being made across the board. The Trojans took the second set 25-19 and held on for the third set 25-22.

Up 2-1 in sets, Superior took and early lead against Cedar Catholic in set four. The Trojans, liked they had all match, battled back and even took a 25-24 lead late in the set.

The Wildcats regained the momentum and won the fourth set 28-26.

Both teams traded shots in the fifth set, but Superior pulled away and denied any more rallies by Cedar Catholic, finishing the match 15-8, ending Cedar Catholic's season.

Reagan Meyers led the match with a whopping 35 kills for Superior, followed by 12 kills for Halle Bargen.

Cedar Catholic's Lauren Bernecker led the Trojans with 15 kills, meanwhile Melayna McGregor tallied 12 and Katelyn Arens finished with 12 kills and 5 blocks.
