President-elect Donald Trump has selected South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary.

That's according to two people familiar with the selection.

The DHS is a sprawling agency that oversees Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Secret Service.

It has a $60 billion budget and hundreds of thousands of employees.

During Trump's previous term in office, DHS had five different leaders.

Only two of them were Senate-confirmed.
