Chadron authorities arrest man in Christmas night assault
CHADRON, Neb. — Chadron Police arrested a 21-year-old man on Christmas night following a physical altercation that left one person hospitalized with a neck injury.
According to the Chadron Police Department, officers were initially informed that an unknown male had assaulted a reporting party and fled west on Third Street. Officers arrived at the 300 Block of East Third Street at approximately 8:19 p.m. and observed signs of an altercation, including blood on the sidewalk.
Meanwhile, authorities responded to a separate call regarding a man who had arrived at 301 Main Street with a neck laceration and was bleeding heavily. Officers provided medical aid until an ambulance transported the injured man to Chadron Community Hospital.
Returning to the initial scene, law enforcement interviewed the reporting party, who admitted to using a knife during the altercation. Officers recovered the knife as evidence.
Following witness interviews and further investigation, Poseidon Sanchez was arrested for second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, a Class IIA felony. He was transported to the Dawes County Jail.
The Chadron Police Department was assisted by the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department during the response.
The investigation remains ongoing.
