Norfolk man arrested for felony arrest warrants following pursuit from Stanton to Norfolk
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Law enforcement in northeast Nebraska arrested a Norfolk man for several arrest warrants, Tuesday morning.
The Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger said that around 9:35 a.m., he saw a vehicle in Stanton driven by 43-year-old Kyle Kirstine, of Norfolk.
Unger said that Kirstine was known to have several felony arrest warrants out of Stanton County.
As soon as there was a second marked patrol vehicle in place, Unger said they tried to pull Kirstine over on Highway 24.
Kirstine, refusing to pull over, drove towards Norfolk on Highway 24.
As he continue to drive west on the highway, Stanton County Sheriff's Office said they requested the assistance of the Norfolk Police Division to set up deflation spikes at Highway 24 and Highway 275.
The Sheriff's Office said Kirstine entered the intersection, running a red light and deflation spikes were deployed. After running over the spikes, Kirstine's vehicle came to a stop in the intersection.
Kirstine and his passenger were arrested at gunpoint.
Kirstine was physically subdued and later taken to jail for the existing warrants and new charges for speeding and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.
The passenger was released without charges. The Sheriff's Office said she advised Kirstine numerous times to stop or pull over during the pursuit.
In addition to the charges, Kirstine did have a new warrant issued on Tuesday morning in Stanton County Court for failure to appear in court.
