SIDNEY -- The Sidney City Council March 11 opened one bid for the purchase of the former Sidney Police Department.

The Tuesday, March 11, Sidney City Council meeting included opening sealed bids of the former police department location of 1705 Illinois Street.

The one bid was submitted by Uncertain Investments, represented by Matt Monheiser, at a price $71,000.

The bid guidelines require the purchaser to have $20,000 in cash or money order at the time of the bid opening. The purchaser also agrees the location can only be used for retail, an eating establishment or business for the next 20 years.

The Sidney Police Department moved to Pole Creek Crossing, east of Sidney Regional Medical Center, in a trade with World Trophy Adventures (WTA). WTA acquired the three-story building at 13th and Illinois Street that included their offices on Pole Creek Crossing. Prior to WTA, UST Global made an agreement with the City of Sidney in 2018 that included the creation of new jobs in the community, and a lease agreement for the building at 812 13th Ave. UST Global learned, as many businesses during the COVID Pandemic, that much of their work can be done remotely.
