Man carrying drugs mistakes high school for emergency room, police say

NORFOLK, Neb.— A northeast Nebraska man is behind bars after police say he mistook the high school for an emergency room.
Police arrested Gordon Davidson, 30, of Ewing on drug and weapon charges Wednesday afternoon.
Around 12:30 p.m. Davidson was reported to the Norfolk Senior High School resource officer for trying to enter a home less than a block away from the school, police say.
About an hour later the resource officer confronted Davidson on school grounds telling him to leave, causing him to flee. Officials say Davidson believed the high school to be the hospital emergency room.
The officer followed Davidson and found his backpack, which contained drug paraphernalia and a knife with a five-inch blade.
Officers arrested him about a mile away. He is currently being housed in Madison County Jail.
