St. Mary's knocks off Wynot in D-2 quarterfinals

The bid to repeat is alive and well for the St. Mary's Cardinals.

LINCOLN, Neb. - The bid to repeat is alive and well for the St. Mary's Cardinals.

St. Mary's knocked off Wynot 56-42 on Wednesday night at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, in a rematch of last years state final. The Cardinals doubled up the Blue Devils at the half leading 30-15, a lead they would hold throughout the second half.

Gage Hedstrom led all scorers with 19 points, adding nine rebounds.

The Cardinals will take on Archangels Catholic in the semifinals.
