For a period of 60 days, the town of Neligh will be downsizing its police force by one, leaving two officers to cover the area.

After accepting the resignation of officer Kraig Nelson with a heavy heart, the Neligh city council was faced with the choice of either replacing the vacancy or trying to manage with only two.

The motion to stick with only two officers for a period of 60 days passed with three votes.

The choice was made with consideration of budget concerns as well as emergency response capacity. The measure was made to see if only two officers could manage the needs of the town.
