Bankruptcy filings are down significantly both nationally and in Nebraska.

Nationwide, overall bankruptcies plunged 30 percent last year, compared to 2019. They hit their lowest level since 1986.

In Nebraska, residents filed just over 3,300 bankruptcy cases last year, down 19 percent from 2019. That's the lowest mark statewide since 2000.

Farm bankruptcies also declined in Nebraska last year, although they remained high when compared with the past decade.
