NORFOLK, Neb. -- A former mayor has thrown her hat into the ring for the Nebraska Public Power District Board of Directors.

Former Norfolk Mayor Sue Fuchtman is running for Subdivision 10. She joins Dirk Petersen in the race. The seat is currently held by Bill Johnson, of Pilger, who has chosen against running for re-election in 2022.

Fuchtman is a retired partner and president of Daycos in Norfolk. She currently serves on the Faith Regional Hospital Executive Board and Physicians Board.

Fuchtman served as mayor of Norfolk from 2008 to 2016 and was named Norfolk Area Person of the Year Award in 2016.

She previously served on the Norfolk Planning Commission (1996-2008), on the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce Board (2002-2005), on the NeighborWorks Northeast Nebraska Board, on the Norfolk Catholic School Board, and on the Norfolk United Way Board (1993-1995).
