One person killed in Wayne County crash

WAYNE, Neb. -- One person died in a weekend crash in Wayne County.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Saturday. According to Sheriff Jason Dwinell, a man was driving on Highway 98 when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to roll into a ditch.

A passenger, identified as Theresa Brown, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dwinell said Brown was not wearing a seat belt, contributing to the fatality. The crash remains under investigation.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Winside Volunteer Department and the Carroll Volunteer Fire Department.
