BEEMER, Neb. -- One person is dead and two others are injured after a car accident in northeast Nebraska.

The Cuming County Sheriff's office said Tuesday that the crash happened two miles east of Beemer near the intersection of N Road and 14 Road Monday evening.

Authorities said a car failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection and two cars collided.

After the collision, a car went west down N Road and hit the bridge guardrail, the sheriff's office said.

A pickup also hit the bridge guardrail and entered the north ditch.

The sheriff's office said Arden Leimer of Beemer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marshall Stalp of Wisner and Josie Kahlandt of Hooper were both taken to a hospital in West Point for their injuries.

N Road was closed between Beemer and Highway 9 for around five hours.

Departments and assisting agencies that responded to the crash were Beemer Fire and Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol, Cuming County Sheriff’s Office, and West Point Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing.
