Great American Comedy Festival headliners announced
The headliners for the Norfolk's 14th annual Great American Comedy Festival have been announced.
NORFOLK, Neb. -- The headliners for the Norfolk's 14th annual Great American Comedy Festival have been announced.
Vicki Lawrence will headline the closing night Gala as both herself and as her most famous character, Mama, on Saturday, June 17.
Michael Ian Black will headline Friday, June 16 for the Comedy Showcase.
The Festival will kick off on Thursday, June 15 with the traditional family Comedy Magic Show.
All three shows start at 7 p.m. at the Johnny Carson Theatre, except an Adults-only Late Night Show at the Stables (1909 Vickie Lane) Friday, June 16 at 10:30 p.m.
Lawrence is an actress, comedian, and singer known for many characters. She started on CBS's The Carol Burnett Show and was the central character on the television comedy series Mama's Family.
She will be performing her production of Vicki Lawrence and Mama: A Two Woman Show.
Black is a multi-media talent by starring in numerous films and TV series, writing and/or directing two films, an author and commentator, and regularly touring the county performing comedy shows.
He will be in continuing in his role in the second season of Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer.
"We're incredibly excited to bring a living legend like Vicki Lawrence to the stage at the Johnny Carson Theatre," said Lisa Wattier, executive director. "She's an icon, and rounds out what should be another stacked weekend for comedy fans of all ages."
The Comedy Festival is presented by Nucor Steel Nebraska, Nucor Cold Finish Nebraska, Nucor Detailing Center and Vulcraft Nebraska.
The Great American Comedy Festival is also made possible with the support of the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
