WAYNE, Neb. -- During his 23 seasons, Wayne State Track and Field, and Cross-Country coach Marlon Brink has built long-term consistent success.

Brink’s teams have won three men's outdoor, and two men’s indoor Conference Championships. His athletes have also captured 137 NSIC Individual Championships across both indoor and outdoor track.

Now, the program is set to build further with new facility improvements on the horizon.

“We’re really excited,” he said. “We have a 300m track that’s going to be built here shortly with a bubble structure over it, that will become our new indoor facility.”

The facility will allow the program to have an area to call its own. It currently shares the WSC recreation center with other students and athletic programs.

To match the improvements, Coach Brink said his Track and Field program is set to increase the number of athletes from 65 (35 men, 30 women) to 90 (45 men, 45 women) in the next two seasons.

“With the new facilities we feel that we have the ability to expand,” he said. “Enhancing the quality and numbers on our team will make us more competitive.”

The extra recruiting piles more workload on to Brink, but the Wildcats coach is focused only on the benefits and future of his program.

“The future looks really bright,” Brink said.
