Global city nature challenge comes to Norfolk
NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Global City Nature Challenge has arrived in Norfolk.
Sunday afternoon, Verges Park goers could participate in the challenge by finding and documenting wildlife. The wildlife that was found can be registered into an app and shared with other across the globe.
Libby McKay, Executive Director of Elkhorn Valley Museum said she was thrilled to see documentation from northeast Nebraska thrown in with the international community.
The Global City Nature Challenge started in 2016 as a competition between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It has grown into an international event, motivating people around the world to find and document wildlife in their own cities.
In 2022, more than 67,000 participants made nearly 1.7 million observations of more than 50,000 species globally.
