NORFOLK, Neb. -- Authorities in Madison County said that proper car seat use "saved" a child in a rollover accident Friday morning.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office said they were called to an accident near 836th Road and 555th Ave. on Friday around 6:50 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they said they saw a Pontiac Grand Am on its top in the ditch, and all of the occupants were outside of the vehicle.

MCSO said that the Pontiac was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup that ran a stop sign, while heading east, causing the Pontiac to rollover into the ditch.

The Pontiac reportedly had a driver and two passengers, with one of the passengers being an 18-month-old child.

Authorities said that the child was properly restrained in a car seat in the rear of the vehicle.

MCSO said it is believed that because the child was properly restrained in the car seat, the child sustained no apparent injuries.

The driver of the Dodge was issued a citation for running the stop sign.

No other injuries were reported from the accident, according to the Sheriff's Office.
