HARTINGTON, Neb. -- A pre-trial hearing has been continued for a Louisiana man accused of murder in northeast Nebraska.
According to documents filed in Cedar County District Court, attorneys for 21-year-old David Phillips Jr. requested a continuance for additional time to review discovery on Monday. District Judge Bryan C. Meismer granted the request.
Phillips was arrested at the beginning of March, following the shooting death of Israel Matos-Colon at a rural residence northeast of Hartington.
Law enforcement officials said they believe a workplace argument began between the suspect and victim, leading to the shooting.
Phillips faces three felony charges, including second-degree murder.
Phillips filed a written not guilty plea in March.
