O'NEILL, Neb. -- A volunteer fire department responded to an attic fire Monday night.
The O'Neill Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department said they responded to the fire around 10:16 p.m. in the 300 block of S First St.
When crews arrived, smoke was noted to be coming out of the peaks and eaves.
OVFD Capt. Brian Jundt said that aggressive interior attack, along with roof ventilation operations led to the fire being quickly contained.
The fire was reportedly contained to the attic apace.
The contents of the house received smoke and water damage.
OVFD said the preliminary cause of the fire is overloaded electrical wires.
The crews remained at the scene until 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to the fire department.
